No PFC-PFAS-PFOS-PFOA in products from 2GO and Derby
There is a lot of talk right now about our environment being polluted with PFAS, which is used as a coating/protection in everything from baking paper, textiles, carpets, frying pans, paint, impregnation agents, ski wax, and much more.
What is PFAS, and why is it harmful to the environment and our health?
PFAS is an abbreviation for per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances, which includes over 4700 chemicals. It is a group of commonly used synthetic chemicals that accumulate over time in the human body and in our environment. They are also known as "forever chemicals" because they are extremely persistent. These substances can cause health issues such as liver damage, thyroid disease, obesity, fertility problems, and cancer.
It has often been found that PFAS contaminates groundwater, surface water, and soil. It is technically difficult and expensive to remediate contaminated areas. If emissions continue, these chemicals will keep polluting the environment.
